Support work is not just a job.
You can make a positive difference to someone’s life!
Come and join The Oak our friendly team of staff who are passionate about their work and the people we support, ensuring they have a personalised, quality driven service.
About the role
We are currently recruiting staff to support a gentleman of 30, who lives in a single annexe in the beautiful grounds of a 7 bedded residential home in Halstead, Essex.
He has severe learning diabilities and limited speech, but is excellent at using makaton (which is like sign language) to help him communicate with others, and he enjoys teaching people the ‘signs’ he uses every day.
He’s a wonderful individual, who is full of excitement and a ‘bundle of energy’ from the moment he starts his day. He likes to do fun things and keep active with lots of exercise.
The things he enjoys:
Helping with the weekly food shopping
Going to the library for his DVD’s
Trips to the cinema
Visit to the zoo
If you have similar interests and want to spend your day with a young man that will make you laugh and smile, this will be a fulfilling job for you.
There is never a typical day, as it is driven by what this gentleman wants to do. There is nothing more meaningful for him, than ensuring he has fun things to do with his day, and someone to share those experiences with.
Previous experience of supporting people with learning disabilities would be beneficial but not essential. What matters most is that you are patient, kind and caring, along with a desire to support people to live a fulfilling life with as much independence and choice as possible.
You’ll be supporting people in their home, working 12 hour shifts (8.00-20.00) including alternate weekends, so you need to be flexible.
What we offer at TLC Care Homes:
Comprehensive (Fully Paid) training
42 hour week contract
28 Days Annual Leave
If you’re looking for a meaningful job, a great team, and feel you have the qualities to help us continue to make a positive impact to the lives of the people we support then please apply.
