Across the Supported Living – North Region, we currently support individuals in self-contained flats where we provide a range of services. Our aim is to support people with a learning disability and complex or challenging needs to be the best version of themselves, helping them with many aspects so they can live as ordinary a life as possible.
As well as Donyland Lodge in Rowhedge, which provides accommodation for 15 people, there are several single and shared services in and around Colchester and Wivenhoe. Our ethos of supported living is the same whether people are supported by individual staff members or by a team of staff.
We believe individuals should be supported to be as independent as possible and our staff encourage them to participate in all aspects of their daily lives including housekeeping, personal care routines and making choices about activities and experiences they wish to be part of.
They all have person-centred support plans, risk assessments, health plans and goals for the future. We believe they should have a fulfilling and enjoyable life and be a part of the wider community. We regularly take them swimming, to the cinema and restaurants, bowling and shopping.
We also encourage them to participate in voluntary work or college depending on their interests.
